We did it! WordCamp Asia 2023

The inaugural WordCamp Asia successfully took place in Bangkok from 17 to 19 February 2023.

Writing this blog post fills us with incredible joy, as the journey to reach this point was much more challenging than anticipated. I’m proud of my organising team’s achievements in bringing this large-scale project to fruition, which took nearly four years from the initial application submission to the final execution.

We are thrilled to receive overwhelmingly positive feedback from the attendees of WordCamp Asia. They expressed satisfaction with the event’s organisation, content, and overall experience.

We couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement of the community — our attendees, sponsors, speakers, and volunteers for 2020 and 2023. Your contributions and participation were instrumental in making WordCamp Asia such a success.

We value your feedback and suggestions and promise to take them into account as we plan future events. We’d appreciate it if you could share your feedback to make the next event even more successful. Please fill out the post-event survey here to let us know how you felt about your experience!

We are excited about continuing to create valuable experiences for the WordPress community and can’t wait to see you all again in Taipei!

After-Party at Lhong 1919: Share Your Culture

Join us on 19 February 2023 between 19:00 and 23:00 to celebrate the closing of the first flagship WordCamp in Asia. Our after-party will be at Lhong 1919, an amazing outdoor event space on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River.

The theme of this year’s after-party is “share your culture,” and we’re asking attendees to wear something that signifies their country or culture. Whether it’s a traditional dress, the colour of the national flag, or a cultural symbol, we want everyone to help us learn more about each other and how diverse the community is.

Attendees must bring their WordCamp Asia 2023 badges. No additional RSVP is required as long as you have a session day ticket, but you will not be permitted without your badge from the event registration desk.

After-Party Information

Date: Sunday, 19 February 2023

Time: 19:00 – 23:00 (door opens at 18:30)

Venue: Lhong 1919 (Wikipedia)

Address: 248 Chiang Mai Rd, Khlong San, Bangkok (Google Map)

Theme: Share your culture: wear something from your country or culture

Food & Drinks: We will have various local finger food stalls. Your session day ticket includes coupons (food/beer/soft drink/water). Additional drinks will be available for purchase with cash (Thai Bhat). If you need cash, you can find several ATMs and a currency exchange service in the ICONSIAM building.

Just a friendly reminder, we’ll only be serving finger food. It’s a good idea to grab something to eat before you head over to the after-party.

Entertainment: We’ll have a local live band iHearBand and DJ Nana. You can choose to dance or just hang out with your new friends with a drink. And for those who want to remember the night, don’t forget to capture the memories at our photo spot.

Access: Our recommended routes to access the after-party venue are these:

  • Taxi from BTS SkyTrain – Krung Thonburi station (7 minutes)
  • Taxi from ICONSIAM (5 minutes)

Please note it may take longer depending on the traffic. The walking distance from ICONSIAM is about 15 minutes. As the street lighting may be poor on some of the roads, we recommend that you take transport back to your hotel even at short distances.

Internet: There will not be public internet for the attendees. Please install an international SIM card for your phone if you need to be online during the after-party.

Lhong 1919 House Rules

  1. Pets are not allowed, except service dogs, and should be prevented from entering the shrine area. If you will bring a service dog with you, please kindly inform us in advance as the number of dogs allowed in the area is also limited.
  2. Smoking is not allowed in the location because the structure of the venue is made of wood. Smoking is only allowed in the parking area.
