Speak at WordCamp Asia 2027 – Penang, Malaysia

A Stage for Deep Community Connection.

WordCamp Asia is built on the power of the open web and the vibrant community that sustains it. While large-scale tech events offer vast opportunities, we focus on creating an environment where genuine connections thrive, and every voice can contribute to the collective knowledge of the ecosystem.

Our event is designed to foster meaningful interactions between builders, creators, and leaders.

We believe that robust business and a vibrant community aren’t opposing forces—they are mutually beneficial. A strong, open-source community drives innovation, and a healthy commercial ecosystem sustains it.

WordCamp Asia 2027 is a collaborative space for shared growth. We welcome 2,000 active builders, agency founders, and open-source pioneers representing over 70 countries to Penang, Malaysia, to learn and innovate together.

This stage is for everyone who contributes to the web—from those just starting their journey to the experts who have been shaping the internet for decades.

Following our previous flagship event, our global community gave us a clear mandate: they are ready to skip high-level overviews. They are hungry for advanced, real-world technical architecture, raw business metrics, and authentic, lived experiences.

If you have hard-won breakthroughs to share, this is your invitation to claim the global stage.

We Designed This Stage For Three Minds:

The Practitioner: “Show Us the Blueprint”

You might not consider yourself a professional conference speaker. Your day-to-day life is spent deep in the code, optimizing enterprise databases, scaling server architectures, or running complex digital operations.

  • Our Promise to You: We value real-world case studies and practical, hands-on lessons over polished corporate slide decks. If you have a lived story of how you broke, fixed, or scaled something, we will provide a global platform to share your blueprint.

The Regional Pro: “Scale Your Global Influence”

You are an experienced presenter and a familiar face at tech meetups and regional events. Your sessions are consistently high-quality, but you are ready to expand your personal brand and challenge yourself with a truly international audience.

  • Our Promise to You: WordCamp Asia places your insights directly in front of a diverse, international crowd traveling from 70+ countries. This is an established career milestone that bridges the gap between regional presence and global recognition.

The Veteran: “A Stage That Honors the Craft”

You have spoken at large tech summits and global cloud conferences. You love sharing knowledge, but you are selective about where you invest your time—you look for environments that treat speakers with respect and feature audiences that actually understand the gravity of your work.

  • Our Promise to You: We respect your expertise and provide a professional environment where your deep knowledge is appreciated. By curating a diverse and high-substance agenda, we ensure you are part of a program that celebrates quality and meaningful contribution.

Elevating Regional Talent and Underrepresented Voices

A global stage is only as strong as the diversity of perspectives it elevates. Historically, the global tech narrative has often underrepresented the rapid technical development and innovation happening across our region. We are actively changing that.

WordCamp Asia 2027 is dedicated to elevating regional talent, alongside developers, designers, and business leaders from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

If you have hesitated to apply to a major international flagship stage in the past, let us be clear: we want your voice here. To back this commitment, we offer:

  • Underrepresented Speaker Support: Eligible speakers may apply for dedicated travel assistance resources to help bridge the financial gap of attending. Please note that support is subject to budget availability and selection criteria.
  • Speaker Mentorship: We offer the opportunity for selected speakers to get support and feedback from more experienced WordCamp speaker mentors through our Diverse Speaker support group. This coaching is available upon request for speakers who would like extra support before stepping onto the stage.

Connect Your Topic to WordPress

WordCamp Asia is a celebration of the WordPress community. We warmly welcome ideas from adjacent fields like design, marketing, content creation, education, and general engineering. You do not need to be a pure WordPress developer to apply, but we ask that you find a way to connect your topic to the WordPress ecosystem.

For example, if you are sharing a lesson on scaling a business, help our audience understand how it applies to running a WordPress-focused agency. If you are sharing a UI/UX design framework, show how it can improve a WordPress user’s journey. As long as you can show how your ideas are useful to people who use, build, or grow with WordPress, your topic belongs here.

Where Your Blueprint Fits: Our 2027 Curation Pillars

We are seeking sessions that offer real, practical substance. Whether you are presenting an intensive technical lecture or an interactive, hands-on workshop, we have designed our tracks to accommodate deep, focused knowledge across six major pillars:

Deep Engineering & Development

  • What we are looking for: Advanced WordPress architecture, enterprise database scaling, headless WP, custom API integrations, automated testing workflows, and the practical implementation of AI/automation in development.

Security, Performance & Open Source Health

  • What we are looking for: Security best practices, performance optimization techniques, sustainability in the open-source contribution journey, and enhancing the overall health of the WordPress project.

Business Growth, Agency & Operations

  • What we are looking for: Transparent, metric-driven case studies on scaling a digital agency, sustainable SaaS product business strategies, cross-border e-commerce optimization, enterprise project management, and navigating digital client services.

Design, UI/UX & Digital Accessibility (a11y)

  • What we are looking for: High-performance design workflows, building inclusive and accessible web interfaces, modern CSS & Gutenberg block styling, conversion rate optimization (CRO), and user psychology.

Open Web, Community & Culture

  • What we are looking for: The future of the open-source ecosystem, scaling regional communities, digital sustainability, open web advocacy, and career growth pathways for digital creators and builders.

Content, Education & User Experience

  • What we are looking for: Innovative content strategies, educational frameworks for WordPress, and improving the contributor experience for newcomers.

The Curation Standard We Guarantee

To honor both our speakers and our highly engaged audience, our curation process is built on two simple, uncompromising principles:

  1. Depth is Our Focus: If your session is accepted as intermediate or advanced, we will support you in delivering exactly that level of technical or strategic depth. No beginner overviews disguised as expert tracks.
  2. Connection is Central: The magic of WordCamp Asia happens in the hallways. We seek out leaders who are excited to be fully present—not just to present their slides, but to stay for robust Q&As, engage with attendees, and contribute to the collaborative energy of our community.

Why WCA2027?

  • An Enduring Global Asset: As an official flagship event backed by the WordPress Foundation, the speaker badge linked to your profile will live permanently on WordPress.org, and your WordCamp sessions will be recorded and published on WordPress.tv, making your knowledge available to the wider WordPress community after the event.
  • Build Meaningful Connections: Connect with agency owners, product builders, contributors, enterprise professionals, creators, and community organizers from across Asia and beyond.
  • A High-Tech Cultural Backdrop: Set in Penang, Malaysia—recognized as a major technology hub in Southeast Asia—your global stage is set against a vibrant city that fuses technological innovation with rich UNESCO World Heritage history and a celebrated culinary culture.

Choose Your Speed: Presentation Formats

To accommodate different topics and presentation styles, you can apply under one of four clean formats:

  • Regular Talk (30 Minutes): Designed for deep-dive technical explorations or comprehensive business case studies. This includes 30 minutes of presentation followed by 10 minutes of active audience Q&A.
  • Lightning Talk (10 Minutes): Quick, high-impact, focused insights. Perfect for sharing a single, sharp breakthrough or a powerful personal story. (No Q&A).
  • Hands-On Workshop (90 Minutes to Half-Day): Immersive, interactive learning. Perfect for walking developers, designers, or business owners through practical, step-by-step implementations.
  • Joint Session: A collaborative format designed for panel discussions or group conversations, allowing multiple voices to explore a topic together from different perspectives.
