Apply for WordCamp Asia Diversity Scholarship

In an effort to realise WordCamp Asia’s vision, we’ve collaborated with the WordCamp Central to bring the WordCamp Asia Diversity Scholarship.

Why Scholarship?

One of WordCamp Asia’s key concepts is to make our event a truly welcoming experience – an inclusive, affordable, and interactive place for WordPress community members to gather.

WordCamp Asia is a long-awaited event in Asia, where reasons beyond their control have blocked dedicated WordPress enthusiasts from meeting others like them in the world. Many of the issues are especially unique to Asian residents, including difficulty in obtaining a travel visa, the high cost of travel due to the foreign exchange rate, and the time investment required for international events in a distant location.

While our event in Bangkok, Thailand will ease some of the barriers, we’d like to extend the endeavour to someone who needs extra help through this scholarship.

Who Qualifies?

This scholarship is awarded to someone who:

  • Is an active WordPress project contributor.
  • Has never attended any flagship WordCamps (US or Europe) before.
  • Requires financial assistance to attend.
  • Is part of the underrepresented demography of open-source contributors.
  • Is interested in bringing their experience to grow their local WordPress community and/or WordPress community in Asia.

Bonus point: If you can share your Contributor Story, it’ll help us understand your background better!

This scholarship provides financial assistance for the recipient to attend WordCamp Asia 2023, including travel from the recipient’s home city, accommodation for the duration of the event, and a ticket to WordCamp Asia.

Please submit your application by 10 November 2022. All applicants will be notified by 30 November 2022.
