Just like us, you might be excited as WordCamp Asia 2023 is only a few months away. The organising team is working very hard so that you get a rewarding experience and everything runs super smoothly. We can’t wait to see all of you, the attendees, in person.
Depending on the country you reside in or your passport issued from, you might need to apply for a visa to attend WordCamp Asia in Thailand.
Whether you apply for a Tourist visa, Visit visa, or any other kind that allows you to participate in the event, it’s up to you.
If you need an invitation, we would be more than happy to provide you with a letter stating the purpose of your visit and as the organisers of the event, we invite you to come to Bangkok to be a part of WordCamp Asia 2023.
Who Needs a Visa?
According to Thai immigration, residents from 64 countries do not require a visa to visit Thailand for up to 30 days. You can read more here and find out if you fall into that category. If so, then you won’t need an invitation letter.
Otherwise, you might require an invitation letter. We suggest contacting the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your country to find out whether you need a visa and what documents you need to obtain it. If an invitation letter is mentioned in the requirements, use the following link to receive one.
P.S. In order to apply for the Visa invitation letter, you will need the following:
- A valid WordCamp Asia ticket
- The same email address that you used for your WordCamp Asia ticket
- Your valid Passport number
Visa Information Regarding Top 10 Countries with the Highest Number of Attendees
We have compiled a list of top countries from which WordCamp Asia 2023 attendees will be joining us. However, please note that all this information is as of the publication of the post and is subject to change, and you should always check with an official source.
India
As an Indian citizen, you will need Visa to enter Thailand. For more information i.e. what type of visa and documents you will be needing to apply for, we suggest you contact the Thai Embassy of your state.
Bangladesh
If you are a Bangladeshi citizen, you will need a visa (Tourist or Business) to enter Thailand. What type of visa you need depends on you, so check out the Thai Embassy Website of Bangladesh.
United States
As one of the Countries listed for Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival, U.S. Passport Holders are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 45 days on each visit or 15-day stays if arriving by land-crossing.
Nepal
You will need a visa to enter Thailand. To know what type of visa you need to apply for, check out the Thai Embassy Website of Nepal.
Philippines
The Philippines is listed as one of the Visa exception countries that can enter Thailand without a Visa. A Filipino citizen can stay for up to 30 days through the Visa Exemption Program.
Pakistan
Being a Pakistani citizen, you will need to obtain a Visa to enter Thailand. Find out more information and requirements from the Thai Embassy Website of Pakistan.
Malaysia
Malaysian citizens can enter Thailand without a visa under the Visa Exemption Program and can stay up to 30 days.
Australia, Japan, and Indonesia
All 3 countries are on the Visa Exemption Program list. So, you can stay up to 30 days without a visa if you are an Australian/ Japanese/ Indonesian citizen and passport holder.
