  • Alfred, Cheng-Tai Kang

    I began my academic journey in the field of physics before pursuing my passion for digital arts, earning an MFA from Pratt Institute in 2005. After graduating, I worked in New York until 2011, immersing myself in the vibrant creative scene. My relationship with WordPress started in 2006, a platform that would later become instrumental in my career. Along with my team, we developed a wide array of customized WordPress programs, catering to various client needs. My work in digital arts was recognized with a Cannes Cyber Lion – Bronze and two FWA awards, accolades that fueled my drive for innovation.

    In 2011, I returned to Taiwan to embark on an entrepreneurial journey, founding a company that adopted WordPress as its primary development framework in 2015. This decision marked a significant turning point, aligning our technological approach with global standards.

    April 2023 brought a new fascination into my life when I was astounded by chatGPT, sparking an interest in AI research. This cutting-edge technology has since become a new frontier for my exploration.

    Beyond my professional life, I am the proud father of two young boys. Together, we embark on adventures, exploring the world and learning from each other. Our shared journey of learning to skateboard has become a cherished bonding experience, filled with laughter, challenges, and growth. Balancing my roles as an entrepreneur, innovator, and father, I continue to seek new horizons, driven by curiosity and a commitment to excellence.

    Angela Jin is the Head of Programs and Contributor Experience at Automattic, where she oversees the work of four teams (community events and engagement, education, and marketing) dedicated to the WordPress open source project. Her passion lies in building strong, inclusive communities. In her spare time, Angela is a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line. Originally from Washington, USA, Angela currently lives in Spain, where she delights in learning Spanish, exploring by eating, and reading a good book.

  • Anne-Mieke Bovelett

    Anne is a passionate multilingual accessibility and possibility advocate, currently living in Germany. She was born in 1971 in The Netherlands, into a family with a rich heritage of visual artists, sculptors, musicians, and eccentric professors. The source of her commercial genes is a mystery, but her passion for creating and designing has genetically been unavoidable. She built her first website in 1998 and freelanced on the side for many years. By 2008, Anne committed to full-time entrepreneurship.

    Anne relishes in playfully debunking myths like “accessible websites are more expensive” and “smashing designs can’t be achieved if the focus is on accessibility.” Her favourite terms in discussions with peers and clients are conversion, usability, and customer experience. She derives pleasure from raising awareness about profitable inclusive design and content, both within and beyond the WordPress community. The term ‘profitable’ in this context refers to both human and business aspects.

    What she cherishes most and does best is guiding companies to motivate all departments to ensure accessibility remains a priority throughout the organization. She deeply believes in providing access to the same opportunities and experiences for everyone, irrespective of any physical or mental limitations they may have.

    Ben has been publishing Stratechery on WordPress since 2013. Stratechery is a blog about technology and strategy, and the impact of the Internet on media. That includes blogging: Ben has, from the beginning, been a strong proponent of the idea that not only is blogging not dead but that its future is brighter than ever. That belief was undergirded by the possibility of new business models, particularly subscriptions. Ben proved that with Stratechery, one of the first subscription-supported blogs that created the model for the entire industry.     WordPress has been a beautiful whirlwind for Joe Simpson since 2017. While on a 90-day leave of absence to recover from a heart event, he decided to truly give back, learn WordPress, and grow in areas he’s passionate about (like illustrating Wapuu).

    Joe didn’t see anyone onstage or organizing WordCamps that looked like him, so he presented at WordCamp Chicago while starting two Meetups, and created WordCamp Santa Clarita the first WordCamp north of Los Angeles and south of San Francisco since 2014.

    He co-founded BlackPress with Destiny Kano-Fox and Nyesha Sweet, most recently was one of the Lead Sextet that organized WordCamp US 2023 in National Harbor and is one of the Team Reps on Make WordPress Accessible.

  • JU-CHUN KO

    Dr. JU-CHUN (JC) KO, currently an At-Large Legislator and adjunct assistant professor at the Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia at National Taiwan University, has been deeply engaged with the CMS community in Taipei since 2004 and actively involved in blog writing. After earning his Ph.D. in Computer Science from National Taiwan University in 2012, he proceeded to Keio University’s Graduate School of Media Design (KMD) in Japan for postdoctoral research and later attended Singularity University in the US. 

    He also served as the Taiwan AI/Web3 Growth Partner for the Dentsu Group in Japan.     This is not just a live demo of WP-CLI commands. This is zooming out and seeing WP-CLI in collaboration with other tools in the context of PHP developer needs and everyday tasks. We’ll probably release the Kraken as well.

    Miriam co-founded and built Strattic to bring an innovative and comprehensive approach to WordPress security and performance to the web at large. After being acquired by Elementor, Miriam continued to lead the Strattic unit until taking on the role of Head of WordPress Relations at Elementor to act as a liaison between Elementor and the greater WordPress ecosystem.

    Prior to founding Strattic, Miriam founded and managed one of Israel’s leading WordPress development agencies, which was also subsequently acquired. In his 17 years journey, he has contributed to the WordPress community in different ways, including theme and plugins development, as a WordCamp speaker and organizer, and through side projects such as EasyEngine.

  • Rich Tabor

    As a multidisciplinary maker specializing in the intersection of product, design and engineering, Rich Tabor is recognized as one of the top leaders in this era of WordPress. His precise design chops have topped the Automattic Design Awards and led him to create multiple products that have attained millions of users.

    Rich is currently a Product Manager at Automattic, working directly on WordPress, focusing on making publishing more intuitive and human-centric all around.

    Ricky is a self taught web professional who found and fell in love with WordPress, and the community behind it while looking for a CMS platform to build websites for clients.

    He originally started his own web design business after being made redundant from a factory job in 2013, but now works for WP Engine as a Partner Enablement Manager and WordPress Evangelist.

    He is a Co-Organizer for the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast WordPress Meetup Groups, and has spoken at WordCamps in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

She is one of the founders of WordCamp Europe, and a long-term contributor to the WordPress project, where she once led the docs team and wrote a book about the history of the project.
