WordCamp Asia 2024 Diversity Scholarship Recipients

Posted

We’re delighted to introduce the recipients of the WordCamp Asia 2024 Diversity Scholarship: Astha Jain, a law student and active WordPress community member from India, and Rong and Green Yang, dedicated WordPress professionals from Taiwan. These scholarships aim to increase diversity in our community, celebrating individuals who bring unique backgrounds and skill sets to the platform.

We are awarding scholarships to three outstanding individuals to cover their expenses for travel. While Astha Jain unfortunately cannot attend our event this year, we celebrate her accomplishments and hope to see her at future events.

Astha Jain

Astha Jain (@beingastha) is a final-year law student passionate about exploring the intersection of law and technology. She finds WordPress an essential platform for gaining experience, sharing her knowledge, and bridging those two fields. An active member of the Indian WordPress community, Astha was an organiser and speaker for recent WordCamps in Bhopal and Mumbai, respectively.

This year, we’ve chosen two recipients from the event’s host country. They are based in areas away from Taipei and the scholarships will enable their stay in the region without financial burden.

Green Yang (@yanggh) is the founder of Ke2B Studio, providing WordPress website services. His experience in branding, marketing, and product management adds a distinct perspective to his web development work. Green is a passionate community organiser, playing a vital role in WordPress Meetups in northern Taiwan and leading the WordPress Taoyuan Dinner/ Meetups since 2019.

Green Yang
Rong Tian

Rong Tian (田小蓉, @g618) is a freelance web designer at a local design firm in New Taipei, 無限創意整合行銷 (Infinite Creative Marketing). As a single mother of three, she leverages WordPress for work-life balance and actively participates in three WordPress Meetup groups in Taiwan: Taipei, Taoyuan, and Changhua. Her children are also developing an interest in WordPress, inspiring her even more to connect with the broader community in person for professional development and community involvement.

Please join us in welcoming Green and Rong to WordCamp Asia 2024! We’re excited for the conversations and connections their presence will inspire, and we encourage you to connect with them. I  hope this scholarship promotes inclusivity by welcoming diverse voices and perspectives into our community.
