Need guide of Document Verification and Letter of guarantee. How can we know which kind of qualification documents should be verified by Embassy?
Certificates related to employment, salary, education, etc., issued by the following countries/regions: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bengal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, need to be authenticated by Taiwan (ROC) representative office / Embassy in that country or a neighboring country. (Unless those issued by multinational corporation with a subsidiary/parent company in Taiwan, could be accepted.) If the provided documents are not in English or Chinese, please attach a translation to English or Chinese. Please find further process via link.
Is the Letter of guarantee a necessary item and could we request the authority to help finish this form?
If you are a sponsor, speaker, volunteer, table lead, or organizer of WordCamp Asia 2024, you can request the Letter of Guarantee from us. If you are an attendee of WordCamp Asia 2024, we will review based on your contribution to WordPress. Please contact asia-local@wordcamp.org.
I have summitted and paid for the application. But my documents haven’t been verified, what is the process and how could we apply for document verification?
Once applicants received notification email to upload additional documents, the reviewing agency would point out which document should be verified by Taiwan embassy, please refer to response of question 1 and do so in a timely manner.
During the fact there is no Taiwan Embassy in some countries. Could Document Verification and Passport Inspection done by travel agents or via sending mail?
We recommend contacting or emailing the documents requiring verification to the designated overseas representative office of the Taiwan embassy. Confirm whether personal presence is necessary or if it is permissible to appoint a representative. Contact points of each Taiwan embassy here.
Is filling out the Resume provided on Gold Card official website a MUST? Or could applicants prepare open platform profile such as WordPress.org, LinkedIn, GitHub, Dribbble, portfolio website, etc be proof of seniority?
We suggest the completion of the Resume form on Gold Card website as the cover for all of your supporting documents. This will provide reviewing agencies with a clearer understanding of the applicant’s personal experience and expedite the review process. In addition to the resume, applicants should also prepare employment certificates, open platform profiles, and other qualification proofs as reviewing documents.
If I receive the Gold Card, do I have to go to Taiwan alone to collect it, or can my spouse and child accompany me on the first entry?
Your spouse and children can enter Taiwan with a Visa-Exempt Entry or the Visitor Visa or Resident Visa for the reason of family reunion, issued by the ROC (Taiwan) overseas mission. When they enter Taiwan. Please find further regulations here.
DON’T buy via the third-party payment platform. Does it mean; buy directly only from the Airline website for flight & Hotel website for stay?
Please book your itinerary through a travel agency in your country, a Taiwanese travel agency, or directly on the official website of the airline/hotel.
I am from Pakistan but live in Malaysia and have Ph.D. (CS) from Malaysia, (ranked 129th). Should I send PhD certificate to the Taiwan Embassy in Malaysia?

Does the “Over 8 years in the digital sector” for the Taiwan Gold Card include Freelancing/solopreneur or is it only valid if the person is with a company?
If applicants are freelancing or operating as solopreneurs, please complete the resume form on Gold Card website for clarification. Additionally, plase attach documents such as company registration certificates, service contracts, and a portfolio on an open platform as proof of employment.
Are we still eligible for the incentive program if we have already booked flights using a third party?
Yes, please note that if you purchase flight tickets through third-party platforms, a 20% tax will be deducted from the total incentive amount. Also, accomadation vouchers and receipts issued by foreign e-commerce platforms are not accepted.
If you the 3 years has completed do you need to renew the gold card before you can apply for permanent resident status?
Gold Card holders are eligible to apply for permanent residency after three years. The requirements include: helding a Gold Card for at least three years, having stayed in Taiwan as a Gold Card holder for three consecutive years or more, and having resided in Taiwan for an average of 183 days or more per year. Then you could apply APRC at immgration agency. Check detailed regulations here.
Would the Taiwan Entrepreneur Visa be more suitable for freelancers?
One of the obligations for Taiwan Entrepreneur Visa holders is to establish a local business before the visa expires.While Gold Card requires no limitations for talents and freelancers, allowing them to either be employed full-time or open businesses in Taiwan. This provides the flexibility to explore various business opportunities under favorable conditions.
What are the additional service fees to accommodate the Gold Card applications to evaluate to check the eligibility? Other than the Gold Card government fee? (edited)

Can you talk about the criteria for renewing the gold card and what that process is like?
You may extend your Employment Gold Card on the Foreign Professionals Online Application Platform within 4 months of your current card’s expiration date. After re-entering your personal information, the platform will automatically transfer your documents from your previous application (you will not be able to preview or download your previous documents). Can apply Gold Card directly for 3 years or it will be renewable on a yearly basis?
Applicants could choose Gold Card duration from 1-3 years. The Gold Card is also renewable.
Do different categories/buckets have different quotas? If a candidate qualifies for several categories, what would you recommend for the strongest application?
