Preparations have started for WordCamp Asia 2024

Hello!

It’s been awhile since we were in touch and we hope a good number of you are enjoying your time at our sister event, WordCamp Europe!

It’s been an interesting few weeks with the formation of the organising team and working through the venue contract.

Andy, Devin, Eric, Yuli, and I spent time with the local team visiting the venue and consulting with production companies that would help us set WordCamp Asia apart from anything you’ve seen.

We’re just about to sign the venue. You can now update your calendars for WordCamp Asia to happen early March 2024 (confirmed dates to be shared in a week or so!). Here’s a quick sneak preview of the location – we’re renting out a building (almost!)

The local community is massive and I’ve been told that WordCamp Taiwan (this October) alone would boast of at least 500 attendees. While we were on the same trip, we were lucky to be able to celebrate  the 20th Anniversary of WordPress with the Taiwanese community.  

There’s also active work bringing in government support and other open source communities across the region (e.g. Hong Kong) to WordCamp Asia next year.
