Ways to Contribute Beyond Coding for WordPress

Contributing to WordPress doesn’t have to be all code. There are many other ways to get involved with the community and support the platform.

Documentation

Good documentation lets people help themselves when they get stuck. The docs team is responsible for creating documentation and is always on the lookout for writers. You don’t need any technical expertise to contribute, just a willingness to explain things clearly. The docs cover everything from using the software to developing themes and plugins.

Translation

If you’re bilingual, consider translating WordPress into your native language. You can translate the core software, themes, plugins, and documentation. Translation helps make WordPress accessible to more people around the world.

Support

Helping others is what the WordPress community is all about. You can provide support by answering questions on the forums, helping newcomers in Facebook groups, or mentoring folks in your local WordPress community. Even if you’re still learning yourself, you can offer moral support.

Organizing Events

Those WordCamps and meetups don’t organize themselves! You can volunteer to help plan events in your city. Tasks include finding venues and speakers, promoting the events, and handling logistics on the day. It’s a great way to boost your organizational skills and network.

There are so many ways to get involved with WordPress beyond writing code. Whatever your interests or abilities, the community has a place for you. Contributing will enrich your own WordPress experience, as you help others and build new connections. So go ahead, take the plunge, and become a contributor – you have so much to offer!
