As we countdown to WordCamp Asia 2024, each week we’re inviting you to go behind the lineup and get to know the folks who will be taking to the stage. In today’s post, we chat with Perth Ngarmtrakulchol, an analytics Engineer at Canva and co-founder of the WordPress community in Thailand.
Q. Firstly, welcome to the lineup! We’re so glad to have you here. Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself? Where will you be joining the event from, and what does your day-to-day look like?
Hi! My name is Perth. I’m a data analytics engineer at Canva, juggling Python and SQL to unravel data mysteries. I am currently based on sunny Sydney, Australia.
Q. We’re lucky to be welcoming a diverse range of speakers to our program in 2024. What interested you to apply to WordCamp Asia as a speaker?
I wanted to give back to the WordPress community that has given me so much. WordPress has provided me with a lot of opportunities in the past. I made a lot of friends from organising WordPress meetups in Bangkok for several years, WordCamp Bangkok events, and WordCamp Asia 2023 in Thailand.
Q. What can audiences expect to learn from your talk/s? Are there any advance sneak peeks or knowledge bombs you can offer us?
My talk will unveil how WordPress development skills can create multiple income streams. Trust me, WordPress is cooler than you think! I’ll share real-life experiences and tips on leveraging WordPress for main and side hustles, based on true story in my past 10+ years I used WordPress.
And here’s a fun fact: these skills once scored me a free trip to Las Vegas!
This talk will be a good entertainment for developers or anyone who might want to become WordPress developer.
Q. What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Asia 2024? Is there someone you’re looking forward to rubbing shoulder with, or a local delicacy you’d like to sample?
I’m excited to reconnect with old pals and make new ones in the WordPress community! And I can’t wait to soak up knowledge from other speakers. Another goal for me to do in Taiwan is snapping a photo with the towering Taipei 101!
Q. Tell us something about yourself that we might not know. Party tricks? Secret hobbies?
Even though my name is Perth, I hadn’t been to the city of Perth until 2023.
Q. Lightning Round!
