We are excited to have participants from various corners of the globe at WordCamp Asia 2024! Depending on your nationality, you may have different visa requirements to enter Taiwan.
Note: We are providing this information as is and we are not the official authority on such matters. Please continue to consult your country’s immigration offices and relevant embassies.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Before traveling to Taiwan, ensure that your passport remains valid for at least six months.
- Check which visa you need:
If you are not eligible for: Visa-Exempt Entry, or ROC Travel Authorization Certificate, you can apply for Visitor Visa for Attending Conference or Special MOFA’s eVisa through WordCamp Asia. You can determine the visa you need by country on meettaiwan.com.
The submission for the special MOFA’s eVisa through WordCamp Asia is closed as of 2024/2/14.
There’s also a Taiwan Gold Card in the Digital Fields program available to everyone, which allows for multiple entries and travel incentives to Taiwan. Please note that applying for both a visa and a Gold Card simultaneously does not present any conflicts.
(1) Visa-Exempt Entry and (2) ROC Travel Authorization Certificate
(1) Visa-Exempt Entry
Taiwan has visa-exemption agreements with 65 countries, allowing their citizens to enter Taiwan for short stays without a visa. If your country is on the visa-exemption list, you can travel to Taiwan without obtaining a visa beforehand, but please verify the maximum stay period applicable to your nationality.
Stay of up to 90 days: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Eswatini*, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan*, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Marshall Island*, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia*(effective till March 31, 2025), Norway, Palau, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tuvalu*, the United Kingdom, the United States of America*, and Vatican City State.
Stay of up to 30 days: Belize*, Malaysia, Nauru, St. Kitts and Nevis*, Saint Lucia*, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Singapore.
Stay of up to 14 days: Thailand, Philippines

Before arriving in Taiwan, please complete an online immigration arrival card on the website of the National Immigration Agency.
(2) ROC Travel Authorization Certificate
Nationals of Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam are eligible for online application for ROC Travel Authorization Certificate.

(3) Visitor Visa for Attending Conference and (4) MOFA’s eVisa Program Flexible Mechanism
The conference visa is designed to simplify travel arrangements for events like WordCamp Asia 2024, ensuring a seamless experience in Taipei. Whether you’re self-applying or exploring MOFA’s eVisa Program, this specialized visa provides the necessary authorization for conference participation.

(3) Visitor Visa for Attending Conference
This visa is specifically designed for conference attendees and provides you with the necessary authorization to participate in the event. Please note that an interview may be required, and you may need to visit the nearest Taiwanese embassy or consulate.
As part of the application process, you will need to provide evidence of documents, which includes an invitation letter. Please print out the visa invitation letter and proof of conference ticket (email subject: Your Ticket to WordCamp Asia 2024) to complete your visa application.

(4) MOFA’s eVisa Program Flexible Mechanism
The submission for the special MOFA’s eVisa through WordCamp Asia is closed as of 2024/2/14.
Traveling to Taiwan may pose challenges for attendees from specific countries. Therefore, we are committed to providing you with a seamless online eVisa application experience. Through collaboration with government organizations, we have streamlined the application process and outlined the timeline, aiming to alleviate your concerns and prepare you for your visit to Taiwan.
- The eVisa is a single-entry visa, allowing a maximum stay in Taiwan of 30 days.
- Please note that you do NOT need to visit an embassy to obtain an eVisa.
- According to the eVisa flexible mechanism policy, we can only submit your eVisa application one month before the event, which will be after February 7.
- eVisa application will be closed on 2024/02/03 (extended deadline 2024/02/14). The application link can be found in your ticket confirmation email.
Special eVisa Requirements
- A valid passport with a remaining validity of at least six months
- A clear digital copy of your passport’s bio page
- Proof of your return flight ticket and accommodation plan
- A ticket for the WordCamp Asia 2024 event
- The eVisa application form provided by WordCamp Asia via ticket confirmation email

Special eVisa Application Process
Step 1: Purchase your WordCamp Asia 2024 event ticket.
*Ensure that the registration details match the first and last name on your passport.
Step 2: Book your round-trip flight and accommodation.
Step 3: Fill out the eVisa application form that you’d receive via email from WordCamp Asia
*This application will be reviewed by WordCamp Asia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)
Step 4: Receive an Ecode and an official English invitation letter via email
* The Open Culture Foundation (OCF) serves as the local representative entity for WordCamp Asia 2024 in Taiwan. They provide assistance with the eVisa process and support our event’s finance operations in the region.
Step 5: Use the Ecode to apply for eVisa and pay visa fee ONLINE after Feb 10, 2024
Step 6: Receive the eVisa result via email
Step 7: Print out the eVisa result and the official invitation letter
Step 8: Present the printed documents before boarding and at immigration

Please note that the visa invitation letter is only valid with a WordCamp Asia event ticket. Please print out your ticket confirmation email or the ticket editing page and attach it to your visa invitation letter (Ticket Confirmation Email Subject: Your Ticket to WordCamp Asia 2024). Additionally, please ensure that the name appearing on the ticket confirmation matches your passport name to avoid any discrepancies during your visa application process.
