WordCamp Asia’s design team consists of three members: Boy, the team lead, is a graphic designer from Thailand. Junko is a web designer and photographer from Japan. The last team member is Daiya, a digital marketer from Hong Kong. One of the key task for the team is to design a brand identity that will set the tone for WordCamp Asia going forward.

In designing the brand identity for Asia’s first flagship WordCamp, the team understood the importance of starting right; the identity has to be able to represent the unique diversity of Asia, considering that each Asian country has its own distinct culture, language, writing system and colours. It is, by all means, not an easy task! In short, WordCamp Asia’s brand identity must be:

WordCamps are volunteer-organised conferences covering everything related to WordPress, free and open-source software designed for everyone, emphasising accessibility, performance, security, and ease of use. WordPress powers over one-third of the web. Since 2006, WordPress community members have held a total of 1005 WordCamps in 74 cities, 65 countries, and six continents.

Call for Media Partners: WordCamp Asia 2020

WordCamp Asia 2020 is the first flagship WordCamp in Asia. So far, there have been only two types of flagship WordCamps: the US and Europe. Flagship WordCamps draw more attention than any other WordPress events from media, users, and businesses.

We chose Thailand to be the first country to host the WordCamp Asia due to its strategic location and affordability. In Asia, there are a total of 127 WordPress user groups across 23 countries with over 73,000 members. We also had 137 WordCamps across 18 Asian countries & 52 cities. These events were all ran by community volunteers.

The organising team of WordCamp Asia 2020 consists of volunteers from 16 Asian countries. We plan to welcome at least 1,000 attendees coming from all around the world. We also envision that having this WordCamp will grow a stronger WordPress community in Asia.

We welcome the opportunity for a mutually beneficial media partnership with magazines, newspapers, TV stations, radio stations, bloggers, influencers, WordPress enthusiasts and freelance journalists. It is an excellent opportunity for media teams to promote their platform, grow visitors, and present exciting and diverse content for your audience.

WordCamp Asia 2020 is a 3-day event that takes place before and over a weekend.

  • The first day is called a Contributor Day. Attendees volunteer to actively give back to WordPress by contributing to various teams within the WordPress open source project.
  • The following two days consist of different tracks of seminars, presentations, and workshops on technical, design and business aspects of the WordPress ecosystem. All speakers are of high calibre and freely give their time and expertise.
