The Call for Speakers is officially closed!
Are you ready to speak at the largest WordPress event in Asia?
We’re excited to announce that the Call for Speakers for the very first WordCamp Asia is officially open. We trust that we will receive many exciting and highly valuable applications for WordCamp Asia 2020. We have to admit it’s our favorite task to read all of your applications and select those who will be speaking at the biggest WordPress event in Asia.
What topic should you apply with?
We accept ALL topics related to WordPress and beyond, and encourage them. The charm of WordCamp Asia is that we welcome a diverse lineup of talented speakers to provide value to our broad audience.
We are looking for diverse topics and inspirational stories. If you’re not sure what to talk about and need some ideas, here are the topics most asked about in our survey:
- Advanced development
- Accessible design
- Agile frameworks
- Culture
- Project management
- Scaling up the business
- SEO
- Storytelling
- Success stories
- Working remotely ‘best practices’
How long should your presentation be?
We are planning the following formats for sessions:
- Long talks – 40 minutes total (30 mins for talk + 10 mins for Q&A)
- Lightning talks – 10 minutes total (10 mins for talk only. No Q&A)
We plan to have two tracks, and each slot in the schedule will be one hour. Content will take up to 45 minutes of each hour, which gives attendees 15 minutes after each session to switch tracks, grab a cup of coffee, and chat with other attendees.
Which language should your talk be in?
We require all talks to be in English only. Sorry, we won’t be able to accept non-English talks this year.
Do you have to be an experienced speaker to apply?
WordCamp Asia 2020 will be the most extensive WordPress related conference in Asia, so it is recommended that you have some speaking experience. Speaking in front of a broad audience can be overwhelming even for more experienced speakers, which is why we want to lend a helping hand. This year, the speaker team will be sharing resources and tips on how to put together a successful presentation as well as how to be more comfortable on stage.
When reviewing speaker applications, we will take your previous speaking experience into account. If you have a few WordCamps lined up to add to your speaking experience before WordCamp Asia, but after you send in your application, make sure you tell us that too.
If you haven’t already, there is still time to speak at your local WordCamp or meetup to gain more practice. Here is a list of all upcoming WordCamps.
What is our application deadline and process?
The Call for Speakers will be open until September 25, 2019, so please make sure that you send in your application in time.
Important Dates
Below are the important dates you need to remember.
- Call for speakers will be open until September 25, 2019
- Speakers will be selected until end October 2019
- Selected speakers will be informed starting early November 2019
- The first batch of speakers will be announced starting November 25, 2019

When will workshop applications open?
Currently, we are not planning to host workshops.
If anything changes, we will publish a separate “call for workshops”.
You can subscribe here for email updates.
How many talks you can submit?
Please limit your applications to not more than two. We understand you might have many ideas and topics to speak about but as we are expecting a big volume of applications, making it unlimited will make things worse for all of us. So please limit to two. Give your best!
Should you buy a ticket?
If you are selected as a speaker, we will be giving you a complimentary ticket to attend the event.
If you couldn’t make the cut, we will give you an option to buy a ticket at a later date. We have kept enough ticket reserved for this case so no need to buy a ticket now if you are applying as a speaker.
So…
Are you ready to speak at the biggest WordPress conference in Asia? We’re looking forward to receiving your application!
