Zeel Thakkar joined WordCamp Asia 2026 as a stellar contributor and WordPress community builder.
Losing Zeel was a big setback to the entire organising team, and to honor her memory, we are launching the Zeel Thakkar Memorial Scholarship. This is a fully funded opportunity for women in India and Nepal to attend WordCamp Asia 2026 in Mumbai (April 9–11).
What the Scholarship Covers
Each recipient will receive:
- A free WordCamp Asia 2026 ticket
- Reimbursement support for travel and accommodation for the duration of the conference
No out-of-pocket costs. You just show up and participate.
Who Should Apply
- This scholarship is open to women from India and Nepal who are passionate about WordPress, open source, or web development.
- We will prioritise folks who have not ever attended a flagship WordCamp (WordCamp Asia/ US/ EU) previously.
- WordCamp Asia is a great way to start your WordPress journey. It can be career-defining. If you’ve been curious but never had the opportunity, this scholarship is for you.
Crowdfund to Help Us Make This Happen
This scholarship is entirely local community-backed. Every rupee raised goes directly to travel, accommodation, and passes for the recipients, nothing else.
