What Is YouthCamp

YouthCamp is not a lecture. It is a build session. Young participants will not sit and listen. They will create.

In small groups, each participant works with a facilitator and follows a simple step by step flow. By the end of the morning, every child walks away with a live webpage they have built on their own.

No theory overload. Real hands on learning.

YouthCamp also introduces children to the power of open source. They understand that WordPress is built by people across the world who collaborate, share knowledge, and continuously improve the platform together. It shows them what community driven technology really looks like.

Most importantly, YouthCamp builds confidence.

Participants leave with:

  • A webpage they created themselves
  • Basic understanding of how WordPress works
  • Exposure to open source culture
  • The confidence to keep experimenting and building

This is not just a session. It is a starting point.

Create. Publish. Repeat.

A Quick Look at the Flow

The session begins with check in and group assignments.

  • Participants settle in, meet their facilitators, and get comfortable.
  • We start with a short welcome to set expectations and explain what they will build. After a quick live demo, everyone begins together using a simple checklist. No confusion. No guesswork.
  • Then it is straight into build mode.

Most of the 2 hours and 30 minutes is fully hands on. Facilitators move between groups, helping solve small issues, answering questions, and keeping the pace steady and fun. Every participant stays engaged. Nobody is left behind.

How We Wrap Up

We close with a mini showcase. Each group selects one page to present on screen. They share what they built and how they approached it. This builds confidence and gives them a moment to own their work.

We end with a celebration and a group photo. During the showcase, we give friendly recognition shout outs such as:

  • Most Creative
  • Best Story
  • Best Design
  • Best Teamwork
  • Best Build of the Session

No pressure. Just encouragement and energy.

The goal is simple.

Build something real. Present it proudly. Leave feeling capable.

Why YouthCamp Matters

YouthCamp is built around two goals:

  • Help kids discover WordPress and open source
They will learn how websites are made, how open source works, and how WordPress is something they can learn, use, and be part of.
  • Encourage creativity and confidence through hands-on learning
Kids will create, experiment, and solve small problems while building a simple page, then share what they made.

If you have a young builder at home who is curious about websites, enjoys creating, or simply wants to try something new, YouthCamp is a great place to start. Seats are limited, so we encourage families to register early once signups open. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of WordPress creators at WordCamp Asia 2026.
