Stephen Dumba is a high school teacher Information and Communications Technology (ICT), tech entrepreneur, and WordPress community lead based in Uganda.
Since 2007, he has been at the forefront of introducing computers and technology to beginners specializing in areas of basic office software, web design, computer repair, and networking. Outside of teaching, he runs tech related community initiatives where he empowers mainly youth with practical skills that are required for the job market.
Currently, Dumba Stephen is an executive of the ICT Teachers’ Association of Uganda (ITAU) where he serves as the National coordinator, a role that brings him to the forefront of teacher retooling and has seen him in hundreds of classrooms and workshops across the country.
Steve is also an active organizer at community events in Uganda and regularly contributes to translations, meetups and photos in the WordPress ecosystem.
A recipient of the Yoast Care Fund in 2023 for his contributions to the WordPress community, he has been featured in podcasts discussing how WordPress empowers Ugandan educators and youth.
He is known for innovative teaching approaches, such as delivering computer lessons in Luganda (a local language), and for initiatives like training teachers in integrating ICTs in Education.
Stephen is the founder of the Students IT Club of Uganda, a club that brings together students who love and wish to advance their skills in technology beyond what the curriculum currently offers.
