“WordPress contribution means turning everyday development work into a meaningful cycle of learning, sharing, and helping others grow.”

My WordPress Journey

I first heard the name “WordPress” in 2013, but my journey began in 2018 when I decided to build my career as a WordPress developer. At first I focused on client projects and built lots of websites using WordPress themes and plugins; I also released a few plugins and themes on WordPress.org, but deep inside I was always wondering: how can I contribute to WordPress itself, not just use it?

Around 2022 I joined the WordPress Slack, and everything changed. I discovered many ways to contribute, even without writing core code on day one. I started with Bengali translations and then slowly contributed to different parts of the project. Over time, these efforts have been recognised with 15+ badges of appreciation for my contributions across the WordPress ecosystem. Step by step, WordPress became not only a tool for my work but a community I belong to.

One highlight of my journey is contributing to the Twenty Twenty-Five default block theme. Being part of that release boosted my confidence and made me feel connected to the project’s future.

Volunteering at WordCamp Dhaka 2025 made me even more passionate about giving back. Meeting contributors in person and supporting the event reminded me that behind every ticket, patch and translation there are real people.

Today, I continue to contribute regularly and learn from experienced contributors around the world. Their support and mentorship keep me motivated to grow as a developer and to welcome new contributors into this inspiring open-source community.
