Why Apply to Speak at WordCamp Asia 2026?

We’re looking for sessions that teach, inspire, or challenge, not product pitches or polished sales talks. Think about what someone else might learn from your experience.

Make an Impact

  • Share your knowledge through technical insights, design approaches, business lessons, or personal stories.
  • Your talk could be the breakthrough someone else in the community needs.

Gain Global Visibility

  • Your talk reaches not only those in the room but also the global community watching the recordings and following online.

Build Real Connections

  • Meet developers, designers, marketers, agencies, and contributors who share your passion.
  • Many collaborations and friendships begin at WordCamps and continue long after the event.

Keep It Real

  • We value practical lessons and authentic stories over polished sales pitches.
  • Strong talks are clear, relevant, practical, and original.

First-Time Speakers Welcome

  • You don’t need years of experience or a polished stage presence. What matters is your message.
  • Our Diverse Speaker support group, where selected speakers can get support and feedback from more experienced WordCamp speaker mentors.

Tip for Your Application

When reviewing applications, we’ll also consider your previous speaking experience. If you have videos from past events, feel free to share them. Don’t have one? No worries! You can record a short video (5-10 minutes) introducing your topic and upload it to a secure location, then share the link in the speaker form.

How many talks can you submit?

You can submit up to two proposals.  If more than two are submitted, only the most recent two will be considered. If you need to withdraw a proposal or have any questions, please contact us at asia-speakers@wordcamp.org.

Should you buy a ticket?

You can purchase a ticket when ticket sales open. If you are selected as a speaker, we will give you a complimentary ticket to attend the event. You can ask for a refund for your purchased ticket.

Are you open to being a backup speaker?

During the event, we may need to activate a backup speaker due to incidents out of our control. Just in case, please let us know if you are willing to be selected as a backup speaker.

But not to worry, opting in for a Backup Speaker doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be selected as a main speaker. It just makes the program team easier to know the applicants who were open for the backup speaker, just in case they are not selected as the main speaker.

Embracing Diversity

WordCamp Asia brings together voices from all over the world. We actively welcome submissions from underrepresented communities, new speakers, and those with diverse experiences and perspectives.

The WordPress Diverse Speaker Training group has been working since 2017 to develop a 60-minute workshop. Check it out to learn more. There is also a Slack channel, Diverse Speaker support group, in the main WordPress Slack, where you can meet potential speakers from marginalized and underrepresented groups.
