Suppose you would like to develop a FULLY accessible website. In that case, you need to have extensive knowledge and skills regarding web accessibility, and it is also necessary to consider things such as all the phases of direction, design, and coding. You might need to be in a team consisting of some specialists. And more, it takes time and extra cost to make such a website.
But even if you are not involved in such an expert team and are not especially asked to develop an accessible website, there are still many things you can do with minimum cost for web accessibility.
I work as a freelance markup engineer and don’t belong to a specific team. I rarely get any orders for an accessible website, but I always try to put minimum accessibility into websites when I code. It means I PARTIALLY develop accessible websites. No one praises me, but no one blames me either. It might also help some end users when they browse the website.
Please let me share such small tips. This presentation is mainly targeting engineers but is understandable to anyone who has basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. Why don’t we prepare for the coming future when accessible websites are quite common in the world from a very tiny step?
