From Local Champion to WordCamp Asia Organizer: A WordPress Journey

A Passion for WordPress

My journey with WordPress began as a web developer, blossoming alongside client projects. While I branched out into AI, project management, and product management, my love for WordPress remained constant. I nurtured this passion by actively engaging in the community and working with personal clients. Contributing to WordCamps and collaborating with a global developer network further enriched my experience.

Building a Local Community

In 2016, I sparked a local WordPress revolution. With no established community, I co-founded a vibrant group through informal meetings. My background in Urdu poetry and essays fueled my initial contribution: translating WordPress for better accessibility. As the community grew, my focus shifted to knowledge sharing through events and meetups. Although contributing directly to core development and themes is a long-held desire, my current role as a Product Manager keeps me busy. Nevertheless, my passion for the community burns bright.

Organizing WordCamp Asia

This year, I’m taking my involvement to the next level! As part of the WordCamp Asia 2025 A/V Team organizer, I’m facilitating photographer and videographer volunteers and crafting a comprehensive volunteer handbook. This role is a natural progression after volunteering in the Photography team for WordCamp Asia 2023. My deep connection to WordPress motivates me to stay involved, and I believe the true essence of WordCamp is experienced as an organizer or speaker. I envision the 2025 event as a diverse and impactful gathering, encouraging participation from the Pakistani community and fostering international connections. Whether you’re a seasoned organizer or new to the community, I wholeheartedly encourage you to join! It’s an incredible opportunity to give back, learn new skills, and connect with passionate individuals worldwide.
