Driving Accessibility and Community in WordPress
A Champion for Accessibility and Community
JC Palmes, an engineering manager at WebDevStudios, has been a vital contributor to the WordPress community since 2009. With a focus on bridging the gap between design and development, JC’s work reflects a deep commitment to accessibility, shaped by her own experiences as a dyslexic. Over the years, she has contributed to WordPress design, core, and program support, in addition to speaking and organizing at numerous WordCamps. Her passion lies in creating systems that are understandable and inclusive, empowering everyone in the community.
Leading WordCamp Asia 2025 with Vision
As the Local Lead for WordCamp Asia 2025, JC plays a pivotal role in ensuring the event’s success. Collaborating with multiple teams, she mentors Operations, Technology, and Sponsors, aligning efforts with both local and global goals. Currently, she is focused on finalizing the venue, forging partnerships with local sponsors, and streamlining logistics like visa support for international attendees. With the endorsement of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), JC is working to make WordCamp Asia a diverse and impactful event that celebrates the rich culture and talent of Asia’s WordPress community.
Embracing Growth and Connections
For JC, organizing large-scale events like WordCamp is more than a challenge—it’s an honor and a deeply rewarding experience. She encourages others to get involved, highlighting the fulfillment of contributing to something bigger while building meaningful connections and learning along the way. Outside of WordPress, JC enjoys expertly crafted cocktails, spending time with her dogs, traveling, and exploring the intersection of design and engineering. Her passion for creating inclusive digital experiences and her dedication to the WordPress community make her a true advocate for open-source technology and collaboration.
