Call for Wapuu

The WordCamp Asia Team is excited to announce the call for submissions for Wapuu designs for WordCamp Asia 2025, set to take place in Manila, Philippines! We invite everyone, regardless of design experience, to participate in creating a Wapuu that embodies the rich culture of the Philippines and the spirit of WordCamp.

What is Wapuu?

Wapuu is the beloved unofficial mascot of WordPress, first conceptualized during the WordCamp Tokyo 2009 after-party and brought to life by Kaneuchi Kazuko.

The original Wapuu made its debut at WordCamp Fukuoka 2011 and has since been adapted by WordPress communities worldwide, often reflecting local cultures.

We are seeking a Wapuu design that best represents WordCamp Asia 2025 and captures the essence of the Philippines. Your design should reflect:

  • Asian culture or local culture of the Philippines
  • The vision of WordCamp Asia 2025 as a platform for inclusivity, diversity, engagement, sharing, and support. We aim to welcome individuals from various backgrounds and fields, creating a safe and encouraging environment for all.
