This year, we&#8217;re tapping into the overall <a href=\"https:\/\/asia.wordcamp.org\/2024\/sponsors\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sponsorship<\/a> fund to continue the diversity scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Scholarship?<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>We started WordCamp Asia years ago with a belief that we can gather the world&#8217;s best speakers and bring them to Asia reducing the cost of participation for residents here. This is still not enough for many of our fellow asian residents. Issues such as difficulty in obtaining a travel visa and the high cost of travel due to the foreign exchange rate are especially present for many asian countries&#8217; citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to help where we can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Qualifies?<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>This scholarship is awarded to someone who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is an active WordPress project contributor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has never attended any flagship WordCamps (Asia, US or Europe) before.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requires financial assistance to attend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Diversity_in_open-source_software\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">underrepresented demography of open-source contributors.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is interested in bringing their experience to grow their local WordPress community and\/or WordPress community in Asia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Bonus point:<\/strong> If you can share your <a href=\"https:\/\/asia.wordcamp.org\/2024\/call-for-contributors-stories\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Contributor Story<\/a>, it\u2019ll help us understand your background better!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We are awarding the scholarship to 2 individuals provided they meet the requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An out of country attendee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A local resident of Taiwan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This scholarship provides financial assistance for the recipient to attend WordCamp Asia 2024, including travel from the recipient\u2019s home city, accommodation for the duration of the event, and a ticket to WordCamp Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selection will be performed by a small panel consisting of WordCamp Central program managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested, please fill in the application form by <strong>February 2, 2024<\/strong>.
